All Aboard the Magic: Your Ultimate Walt Disney World Monorail Bar Crawl Adventure!
Are you an adult looking for something fun to do outside of the Walt Disney World parks? How about a Monorail Crawl? Start at a lounge at one of the Monorail Resorts and work your way around and back. For the not-so-familiar, the Monorail Resorts are the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and Contemporary.
Before we get started - at each stop, there are lounge options and many cocktail, mocktail, and delicious food choices. If I list every choice here, this little blog post turns into a novel, so I’ll narrow things down to today’s vibe.
If we were at Walt Disney World today, we'd take a bus at our resort to Magic Kingdom which drops us off at the Transportation and Ticket Center or TTC. Now, we could hop right on the Resort Monorail, but since it's a lovely Florida day, we’re going to walk over to the Polynesian Resort. It’s a pleasant, short walk surrounded by lush tropical greenery.
Upon entering The Great Ceremonial House (lobby at Disney’s Polynesian Resort), which has a wonderful tropical scent, we'll go up to the Tambu Lounge and kick things off with a Backscratcher* and some Pot Stickers*. Afterwards, we might wander into Bou-tiki to see what's new before finding our way onto the Monorail ("Please stand clear of the doors").
The next stop is Grand Floridian Resort, where I put our name on the walk-up waitlist for Enchanted Rose. While waiting, we enjoy listening to the music being played by the pianist in the big, beautiful Victorian-themed lobby, and take in the sights (look for the Chip, Mrs. Potts and other character inlays in the flooring). I wander into Basin White to check out the new soaps and bath bombs, and wash my hands with one of the fantastically scented tester scrubs. A short time later, I receive a text to let us know it's time to head back to Enchanted Rose. Here we relax for a while with a cocktail called Island Rose*, then stroll over to get back on the Monorail and take a ride past Magic Kingdom to Disney's Contemporary Resort.
Steakhouse 71 Lounge is next on the list. My cocktail of choice here today is a Curious Cold Brew*. Since it's hard to choose, we really pile on the bites here with Loaded Macaroni and Cheese*, Steakhouse 71 Onion Rings*, AND Bacon & Eggs* (not your typical bacon and eggs, though). We're stuffed by the time we're ready to head out, so a bit of walking around the Contemporary with stops at BVG (Bayview Gifts) and Fantasia Market is in order before our Monorail ride back to the TTC.
From the TTC, it's time to jump on the bus headed back to the resort. I can’t think of a better way to end this day than by hanging out at the pool before a late dinner.
Does a Monorail Crawl sound good to you? What lounges would you choose? What would you eat and drink?
